The Kansas State Wildcats have seen their first and likely not their last player enter the transfer portal this spring.
Sophomore forward Stephen Osei, who stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 200 pounds, has announced that he plans to continue his college basketball career at a different school next season. Osei spent only one year in Manhattan after transferring from Casper College in Wyoming, where he played as a freshman.
During his lone season at K-State, Osei saw limited action. He played in just three games, scoring a season-best two points against Mississippi State Bulldogs and logging his longest appearance  five minutes in a matchup with UNC Greensboro Spartans. Other than those brief showings, he spent the rest of the year on the bench, using a redshirt to maintain an extra season of eligibility.

His decision to move on was widely anticipated. With the transfer portal scheduled to open on April 7, the Wildcats are bracing for significant roster turnover. The team struggled through a difficult season, losing 20 games and narrowly avoiding the bottom of the Big 12 Conference standings, making roster upgrades a priority at Bramlage Coliseum.

More players are expected to depart as the offseason unfolds, especially as K-State adapts to new leadership under head coach Casey Alexander, who recently took over for former coach Jerome Tang.
At the moment, the only players confirmed to be on next season’s roster are incoming freshmen Jaylen Alexander and Devin Hutcherson both of whom had originally committed to follow Alexander from Belmont Bruins.
