With spring now in full swing, the college baseball season is hitting its stride, and the SEC is once again asserting itself as the nation’s premier conference, landing 10 teams in the D1Baseball Top 25.
The Auburn Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks entered their weekend matchup sitting side-by-side in the rankings at No. 18 and No. 17, each aiming to strengthen their position in both the SEC race and the national picture as the regular season enters its closing stretch.
After splitting the first two games — Auburn winning on Thursday and Arkansas responding on Friday — the Tigers claimed the decisive rubber match with an authoritative 8–3 victory.
Auburn’s offense delivered in a big way, blasting two home runs and adding three doubles, while sophomore ace Alex Petrovic earned the win with five innings of three-run pitching.
The series win was a crucial bounce-back for the Tigers, who had dropped six of their previous seven games, including a painful rivalry sweep by Alabama.
