On Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge, LSU’s softball team delivered a historic offensive explosion, dismantling SEC rival Auburn 25–0 in a five-inning rout that served as the opening game of a doubleheader.

Before the second matchup between the two Tigers squads, it was LSU who stole the show, setting a program record for the most runs ever scored in an SEC game. For Auburn, the defeat marked the worst loss in the program’s history, dropping their record to 25–26.
With the loss, Auburn risks missing the postseason for the first time since 2013. Meanwhile, LSU improved to 12–11 in SEC play and 36–16 overall after the lopsided win. LSU had taken Thursday’s series opener in a more conventional 3–0 fashion and entered Saturday’s second game aiming for a series sweep.
In the same opener, No. 20 LSU also broke a program record for hits in a single game with 24, punishing five Auburn pitchers along the way.

Alix Franklin starred in LSU’s offensive showcase, launching her first career grand slam, while Jayden Heavener dominated in the circle, earning her fourth shutout of the season.
The scoring began early, as LSU erupted for eight runs in the first inning, highlighted by two-run doubles from Maci Bergeron and Jalia Lassiter.
LSU added seven more runs in the third inning, highlighted by Franklin’s fourth home run of the year—a grand slam.
Heavener improved to 12–7 on the season, delivering LSU’s third straight shutout and the team’s tenth overall. She struck out five Auburn batters in a masterful performance, backed by an avalanche of run support.
