Is Kansas finally on the verge of landing Tyran Stokes after a long recruiting battle?
The five-star playmaker hasn’t closed down his recruitment yet, with Kansas, Kentucky, and Oregon all pushing hard to secure his commitment. It feels like a toss-up, but our instinct says it’ll come down to the Jayhawks or the Wildcats.

The drama surrounding Tyran Stokes’ recruitment might soon be over.
According to Jeff Goodman, Stokes could make a decision as early as Monday. That means it’s time for us to make a prediction. Will Stokes give Kansas the news they want? We think so, which is why we’re forecasting the Jayhawks to win this huge recruiting fight. Here’s the reasoning.
A source close to the situation told me that Stokes ranked No. 1 nationally might announce his choice on Monday.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
It’s down to Kansas and Kentucky for Stokes.

Five-star small forward Tyran Stokes is expected to decide soon, and Kansas has a strong chance.
We still believe this will ultimately be a battle between Kentucky and Kansas. On one hand, Mark Pope and the Wildcats have been making headlines lately, but for the wrong reasons. Pope has missed out on several top transfer portal targets, and next season isn’t looking too promising.
Meanwhile, Bill Self at Kansas has landed Keanu Dawes, Leroy Blyden Jr., and Christian Reeves. Also, Kansas has a stacked 2026 high school class on the way, led by five-star point guard Taylen Kinney.
Kinney and Stokes are close friends, and the future Kansas point guard has been actively trying to help Self bring Stokes aboard. Kentucky has four-star PG Mason Williams in its high school mix, plus transfers Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins heading to Lexington. Still, that hasn’t generated much excitement among Kentucky fans for next season.
Oregon is the wildcard, but we just don’t see that happening. So does that put Self in the driver’s seat? Maybe. But Pope’s desperate attempt to add Jamal Crawford to his staff is worth watching. Even so, that might not be enough to get Stokes to choose the SEC side. No we’re sticking with our prediction: Kansas eventually signs him. We could find out as soon as Monday whether that comes to pass.
