The Kansas State Wildcats have undeniably lost a major piece of their roster following the departure of standout guard P.J. Haggerty. The fifth-year senior is now heading back to his home state, this time joining the Texas A&M Aggies in the SEC.
News of Haggerty’s commitment was first shared by On3 on Friday afternoon. He was among six Kansas State players who quickly entered the transfer portal shortly after it opened.
During his time with the Wildcats, Haggerty proved to be a standout performer. In his junior season, he was the only starter on the team to average more than 20 points per game, finishing with an impressive 23.4 points while also contributing just under four assists per contest.

He led Kansas State in scoring across an 18-game stretch, from nonconference play through late Big 12 action, including a matchup against West Virginia Mountaineers. Haggerty was also one of just two players alongside Nate Johnson to drop 30 points against the Baylor Bears in 2026. By season’s end, he ranked as the fourth-leading scorer in the nation, trailing only Darius Acuff of Arkansas Razorbacks and others ahead of him.
Now, Haggerty is set to play closer to home. A native of Crosby, Texas located just outside Houston, Texas his move to Texas A&M places him less than two hours from where he grew up. Assuming no changes to his commitment, the Aggies will mark the second Texas-based program he’s played for in five years.
Haggerty previously spent the 2022–23 season with TCU Horned Frogs, where his role was limited. As a freshman, he made six starts, scored 17 total points, and averaged just 1.5 rebounds per game.
