As the Philadelphia Phillies keep struggling, they might be forced to make changes sooner rather than later. Given the high expectations surrounding the team, an 8–14 record and a six-game losing streak are hard to accept.

Heading into the season, the Phillies were viewed as one of the top teams in the National League. Over the past few years, they’ve been serious contenders but have consistently fallen short.

Now, with this poor start, concerns about the team’s direction are growing. While the pitching rotation should be fine especially once Zack Wheeler returns the offense has been completely stagnant. During their six-game skid, they’ve averaged fewer than two runs per game.

Although multiple players are underperforming, Alec Bohm has been especially bad for the Phillies. He’s been a frequent name in trade rumors for years, and a change of scenery might benefit him. Despite his terrible start to the season, a trade could spark improvement, and one logical landing spot is the Boston Red Sox.

Red Sox Could Be a Fit for Bohm

Like the Phillies, the Red Sox entered the season with playoff aspirations after making the postseason last year. However, they’ve also started slowly, and third base has been a weak spot offensively.

Boston lost Alex Bregman to free agency over the winter and never truly replaced him. Addressing that need during the season is difficult, and the players currently at third base haven’t provided much help.

Looking at Bohm as a potential solution, he’s a recent All-Star who has historically racked up doubles a skill that would play well at Fenway Park. That said, his numbers this year have been terrible: a .133/.214/.187 slash line with one homer and 10 RBIs. With Bohm seemingly out of favor in Philadelphia and set to become a free agent after the season, trading him now and exploring other options makes sense for the Phillies.
