With the Philadelphia Phillies off to a rough start, a shake-up could be on the horizon. Although the team aims to turn things around and compete, they might also consider moving on from certain underperforming players.
It hasn’t been the ideal beginning to the season for a club with World Series ambitions. Even without Zack Wheeler at times, the roster still boasts significant talent and big names who simply aren’t living up to expectations.

The primary culprit, especially recently, has been the offense. While Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper remain two of baseball’s best, they aren’t receiving enough support. With so many hitters slumping, the batting order has grown shallow, making it easy for opponents to pitch around the top two stars.
One player who has notably struggled is Alec Bohm. The former All-Star has produced little at the plate this season, and his difficulties have disrupted the lineup. Since Bohm is set to become a free agent at season’s end, a departure seems likely. Philadelphia could also explore trading him now to recoup some value.
Milwaukee Brewers as a Potential Landing Spot for Bohm
If the Brewers aim to contend, upgrading at third base appears necessary. So far, the Luis Rengifo and David Hamilton platoon hasn’t worked well.

Despite Bohm’s poor numbers this year, he has been a solid performer in the past an All-Star as recently as 2024. Given his struggles in Philadelphia, a change of scenery might be just what he needs to revive his career.
As a pending free agent who is currently scuffling, Bohm wouldn’t cost the Brewers much in a trade. For the Phillies, such a move would send a message to the rest of the roster while opening the door for Aidan Miller’s promotion once he’s healthy.
With Edmundo Sosa outperforming Bohm so far this season, Philadelphia could turn to Sosa as the interim starter at third base while evaluating longer-term options.
