Cats Stay in State for Big 12 Championship - Kansas State University Athletics

For the 15th time in Big 12 history, the Kansas State men’s golf team will stay in their home state to face conference rivals, as the Wildcats compete in the 2026 Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate from Monday to Wednesday. The event takes place at the par-70, 7,025-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The 72-hole tournament includes two rounds on Monday, followed by one round each on Tuesday and Wednesday. K-State’s top results at Prairie Dunes came in 2004 and 2009, when they placed fourth on both occasions—matching the program’s best-ever finishes in the Big 12 Championship.

“We’re thrilled to return to Prairie Dunes for the Big 12 Championship,” said head coach Grant Robbins. “It’s a tremendous honor to compete at such an iconic venue within the best conference championship in college golf. The test will be demanding: 72 holes over three days on a difficult course, with unpredictable weather making it a real challenge. But we’ll be ready. The key is staying true to ourselves and focusing on playing the course one shot at a time. We know adversity will come over 72 holes, but if we maintain a next-shot mindset throughout, we’ll be in good shape by Wednesday.”

The Big 12 remains one of the nation’s premier men’s golf conferences. Among the 16-team field, three top-10 teams appear in the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings: No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Texas Tech, and No. 10 Arizona State. Nine squads overall rank inside the top 50. Additional ranked teams include No. 20 Arizona, No. 23 BYU, No. 34 Utah, No. 36 TCU, No. 37 Kansas, and No. 48 Colorado. The rest of the field comprises Baylor, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, UCF, and West Virginia.

In addition to leading the team in scoring average and top-20 finishes, he also paces the squad with 11 under-par rounds and ranks second with 85.71% of his rounds counting toward the team score.

Harmeson, a transfer from Saginaw Valley State, leads the team with four top-20 finishes in nine starts and is tied for second on the squad with nine under-par rounds.

Roller makes his eighth start of the season, carrying a 73.85 scoring average over 20 rounds. This marks his first Big 12 Championship appearance since 2024, when he tied for 23rd at 3-over-par 291.

Virkkala posts a 73.21 scoring average, narrowly ahead of Toyer’s 73.36. Both freshmen have played in every event this season. Virkkala, from Espoo, Finland, owns four top-20 showings, including a tie for third at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in late March. He also leads the team with 86% of his 25 rounds in the lineup counting toward the team score.

Toyer, hailing from Cambridgeshire, England, has two top-20 finishes and will compete in the scoring lineup for the ninth time this season. His best results are ties for eighth at both the Git-R-Done Invitational and the Michael A. Marino Classic.

Dobbin, from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, holds a 73.50 scoring average over 28 rounds.

The opening 36 holes of the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are paired with Baylor, Iowa State, and UCF. Tee times will be used for the final two rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
