Although Auburn was forced to sit out Saturday’s game, they more than made up for the delay on Sunday afternoon with an offensive explosion that wrapped up in just eight innings.

After splitting the first two games of the series winning 6–4 on Friday and falling 2–1 on Saturday the 11th-ranked Tigers faced a decisive rubber match against No. 14 Oklahoma. With the SEC series on the line, Auburn seized control in dominant fashion, routing the Sooners 14–4. The game ended in the eighth inning on a walk-off, run-rule home run by freshman first baseman Ethin Bingaman.

Bingaman’s three-run shot sealed Oklahoma’s fate, providing a fitting finish to a game in which he launched three homers in total. His final blast capped a four-run eighth inning that gave Auburn the necessary ten-run lead to end the contest early.

The victory improved Auburn’s record to 30–13 overall and 12–9 in the SEC. The Tigers hit a season-high six home runs on the day, with Bingaman leading the charge. He hit a solo homer in the third inning and another three-run shot in the fourth proving that his later three-run blast was no surprise. He ended the afternoon with seven RBIs.

This win marked Auburn’s fourth consecutive series victory and dropped Oklahoma to 29–14 overall and 11–10 in SEC play. Across the weekend, Auburn smashed ten home runs. Bingaman’s three-homer performance was only the Tigers’ second three-homer SEC game since at least 1993. Catcher Chase Fralick also played the role of power hero, homering in all three games of the series and delivering a go-ahead shot in the third inning on Sunday.

Pitcher Alex Petrovic allowed two early runs in the first inning but settled in from there, holding Oklahoma scoreless over the next five frames to improve his record to 7–1.

Looking ahead, Auburn will try to build on the momentum from this crucial series win which could mean further SEC success and a potential trip to Omaha for the College World Series.
