It’s fair to say that Mark Pope and Kentucky’s offseason hasn’t gone according to plan at least not entirely. What started as a “build around Tyran Stokes” strategy has now turned into “scour the portal for whatever’s left.” Of course, that shift happened because Stokes chose Kansas over Kentucky, but that’s the gamble you take.

Fortunately, Pope didn’t put the entire roster on hold for the nation’s top recruit. In fact, he’s put together an intriguing mix of seasoned veterans and SEC-tested playmakers. Still, that hasn’t stopped the criticism much of it focused on his failure to land a premier freshman talent from rolling in.

Big Blue Nation hasn’t held back in expressing its concerns over missing out on a centerpiece star. But former Wildcats standout Anthony Epps took to X to share his own perspective and deliver a message to Kentucky fans. The gist? Stay faithful.

Epps Calls on BBN to Show Support
In a post that racked up over 3,000 likes, Epps congratulated every player who has already signed with Kentucky, writing, “Glad to have you and can’t wait to see how you mesh as a team.”

He then turned his attention to all Cats fans waiting anxiously, adding, “Stop dwelling over who is not here and get behind who is! That’s it! Let’s go!” The positive reception to Epps’ post suggests that a good portion of the Kentucky faithful agrees with him.

Even though the roster isn’t complete yet, what we already have is more than a handful of Wildcats—both returnees and newcomers ready to shine at Rupp Arena during a controversial stretch in the program’s history. That takes courage and true blue blood. It’s time we rally behind this group and support them, no matter how the offseason ends.

Support Despite the Doubts
This is about offering support in spite of any and all concerns over how the season might unfold. It’s hard to stay on cloud nine after last season’s string of heavy losses and early exits, but Coach Pope has approached this offseason with a clear goal: improve at every position.

Even without a direct replacement for Otega Oweh (and Stokes), Kentucky has successfully brought in several strong transfers. Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins lead an impressive class, joined by returning players Kam Williams and (as expected) Malachi Moreno.

Exactly how good Kentucky will be remains up in the air. But at the end of the day, Big Blue Nation will have this team’s back.
