Myson Johnson-Cook, a highly sought-after running back in the 2027 recruiting cycle, has reportedly decided to attend Auburn for college.

According to a Rivals report on Saturday, the four-star prospect from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School picked the Tigers over offers from Ole Miss, Miami, Ohio State, and Illinois. Auburn running backs coach Larry Porter led the recruiting effort for Johnson-Cook.

Johnson-Cook stands 6-foot-2, weighs 235 pounds, and is ranked No. 46 nationally in the 247 Sports Composite, which also lists him as the fourth-best running back in his class. During his junior season at East St. Louis, he rushed 126 times for 1,341 yards (averaging 10.6 yards per carry) and 20 touchdowns. He also competes in track, with wind-aided 100-meter times of 10.30 and 10.33 seconds.

Johnson-Cook is only Auburn’s third commitment for the 2027 class, joining fellow four-star recruit Donivan Moore, a defensive lineman from Bessmer City (Ala.), and George Lamons Jr., a tight end from Brooks County (Ga.).

Auburn is in a rebuilding phase after another coaching change, having hired former USF head coach Alex Golesh following the 2025 season to replace the fired Hugh Freeze.

The Tigers will open the 2026 season with four straight home games, beginning with Baylor on September 5.
